Dr. Lam is officially recognized by both the Vietnamese and US government to be the one that initiated and brokered the lifting of US embargo of Vietnam. Today, he is an advisor to top government officials in Vietnam including to the Prime Minister. He also advises foreign ambassadors in Vietnam on bilateral issues.
Dr. Lam also served the nation as the UN Ambassador to Vietnam.
